The Kobe Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Secretariat

The work of the KCCI is supported and staffed by the secretariat, headed by the president.
There are 6 staff divisions and a center:

  • General Affairs Division
  • Regional Promotion Division
  • Industry Division
  • Human Resource Development Division
  • Small & Medium Enterprises Promotion Division
  • Membership Service Center
  • Business Support Center

This Chamber also has four branches in principal areas of the city. Our branch staff is mainly responsible for comprehensive business consultations and advice for smaller companies or individuals in areas such as financing, bookkeeping, tax management, retail display and design, wage questions, labor relations and legal problems, etc.

The KCCI has 100 employees in total, serving its 10,900 members. Of these, 25 are specialists, based in our branches, who are devoted to the guidance of small and medium enterprises.

10/14/1878 Established as the Hyogo Chamber of Commercial Law
1891 Reorganized as the Kobe Chamber of Commerce
3/10/1928 Reorganized as the Kobe Chamber of Commerce and Industry
12/1928 Moved into newly-constructed 5-story building on Kaigan-dori
9/1946 Became incorporated
6/12-17/1964 Sent the first post-war economic mission to Korea and Taiwan
11/11/1969 Kobe Commerce, Industry and Trade Center Building constructed with Kobe City and Foreign Trade Association, 26 floors and 2 BFs
1/4/1973 KCCI adopted the goal of making Kobe a 'Fashion City'
3/15-9/15/1981 Held 'Kobe Portopia '81 exposition' with Hyogo Prefecture, Kobe City and Kobe News Paper
1983 Members exceeded 10,000
1988 Current KCCI building constructed at a cost of 7.5 billion yen
2001 Membership exceeded 15,000
2003 Membership reduced to 12,000
2004 Merged Hyogo Branch with Chuo Branch
2005 Compiled Mid-Term Management Plans
2006 Kobe Airport opened
Membership campaign started
2008 130th Anniversary
Membership exceeded 13,000
2009 Sent the first business mission to the Middle East (UAE and Saudi Arabia)
Held Tourism Promotion Meeting of Chambers of Commerce and Industry 2009 in Kobe
